Privacy and cookie policy

Your module marks and calculator structure stay in your browser unless you choose to export or share them.

Calculator data stored on your device

MyDegreeCalc uses browser local storage to save the years, modules, credits, marks and weightings you enter. The calculator does not send this academic data to a MyDegreeCalc application server. It remains available to scripts running on the site in your browser so the calculator can work and save progress.

Clearing site data, using private browsing or changing devices may remove local calculator data. Use the export feature when you need a backup.

Appearance preference

The light or dark mode choice is stored locally under a separate browser preference. If no choice is stored, the site follows the device colour-scheme preference.

JSON and PDF exports

JSON backups are generated in your browser and downloaded to your device. PDF reports are prepared in a browser window for printing or saving. You decide where exported files are stored and whether they are shared.

Hosting and technical information

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel may process request and diagnostic information needed to deliver and secure the site. This can include an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, time of request, response status and similar technical data.

Where advertising code is used

Google AdSense code is restricted to substantial long-form student-guide articles where original publisher content is the main focus. The code is not loaded on the calculator interface, student-guide index, FAQ, About page, privacy policy, terms, contact form or error page.

The AdSense account verification meta tag can appear on pages without loading or requesting an advertisement. It confirms site ownership but does not itself display an ad.

Google AdSense and advertising technologies

On eligible article pages, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers or similar technologies to deliver, measure and limit ads, prevent fraud and understand advertising performance.

Ads may be personalised where consent has been provided and applicable law permits it. Otherwise, non-personalised or limited ads may be used. A Google-certified consent message or consent-management platform may be shown in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area and other regions where consent is required.

Advertising services do not need the module marks stored inside the calculator. Avoid entering personally identifying information into module or assessment labels.

Cookies and privacy choices

Essential browser storage remembers calculator data and appearance settings. Advertising providers may set additional cookies or similar identifiers on article pages when advertising is active. You can use consent controls presented on the site, adjust browser settings, clear site data or use Google advertising privacy controls.

Blocking local storage may prevent the calculator from remembering work between visits.

Contact form

Messages submitted through the contact page are handled by Formspree so they can be delivered. Formspree receives the information entered, such as name, email address and message, together with technical information required to process the submission. Do not send academic records, passwords, health information or other sensitive personal data through the form.

External links

Student guides may link to third-party websites or official university documents. Their privacy practices are controlled by their own policies. MyDegreeCalc is not responsible for how an external site processes information after you leave this website.

Data retention

Calculator data remains in local browser storage until you reset the calculator, clear site data or the browser removes it. Contact messages and technical logs may be retained by the relevant service provider according to its policies and operational needs.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to personal data processed through contact, hosting or advertising services. These can include access, correction, deletion, objection or restriction. Calculator marks held only in your browser can be removed by resetting the calculator or clearing site data.

Children

MyDegreeCalc is intended for university students and is not directed at children. Do not submit personal information through the contact form if you are not old enough to provide it under the laws that apply to you.
